About The Novel
"LPT" is a novel about a painter, Cameron Lowe, her collection-in-progress and how the decline of an old Southern family impacts her creative process and, eventually, the fate of her paintings. Set in Savannah, the novel involves New York As Art Capitol Of The World Politics and is a comment on how money corrupts the art world.
"LPT," as I refer to it, is an abbreviation of the title.
About The Author
My name is Elizabeth Rushing; most refer to me as Lizzie.
As a child, I wrote novels in secret, almost unaware of what I was doing or why. This curious childhood venture is now my greatest pursuit.
Born and raised in Savannah, I now live in a loft on Broughton Street--the lifeline of Savannah's Landmark Historic District. An alumna of Savannah College of Art and Design, I hold a BFA in Writing. My work routinely appears in South Magazine.
Currently, I am writing my second (unpublished) novel. I also work at Garibaldi's Cafe, where I am the general manager's assistant and group sales contact.
In addition to literature and art, I adore the following: champagne, lingerie, lace, chocolate, handwritten notes, secrets, history, second impressions (not necessarily second chances), football, pearls, honey bourbon and cupcakes.
In Literature: I fancy the subject of time, interrupted narratives/story lines, scene vs. narrative and the sliver of difference between nonfiction and fiction.
Regarding Art: I favor the conceptual, the thoughtful, and an expertise in medium. Foremost drawn to painting, I also love three dimensional works, particularly of the atmospheric, and performance--on stage and off.

ReplyDeleteWell, it's not a lack of motivation, it's a lack of time! Between work, freelance and social obligations, it's a daunting task to fulfill. But I'll get it done, no doubt.
